A report just now by the United States Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General concluded that the FBI investigation into people for the ethical treatment of animals and some of its employees is incorrect. The OIG reviews DOJ staff and programs "to detect and prevent waste, fraud, abuse and misconduct, and to promote integrity, economy, efficiency and effectiveness." The report, entitled "a review of the FBI investigation of certain domestic advocacy groups," even criticism of the FBI investigation of Greenpeace USA and anti-organisations.
Over a period of six years looked into the FBI or PETA and some of their employer in the case of domestic terrorism. Despite three extensions of the study of PETA and PETA's penchant for throwing cream Vegan cakes people, the FBI concluded that "there is not enough proof of PETA's engagement in each federal criminal offenses to justify so convert it into a full enterprise terrorism investigation."While the OIG found that the FBI has decided to open the investigation against the PETA good, questioning the third extension of the research and, above all, objected to the FBI overzealous investigation of individual PETA employees, in some cases, them on Federal watch lists and check their trip for years. PETA nor any of the individuals were found in terrorism.
In their report said the OIG:
We concluded that the FBI not the Attorney General's guidelines violate as most of these studies. However, we asked whether the FBI had a sufficient facts to examine several cases as full instead of questions referred for a preliminary ruling. we closed with respect to an individual that the facts of the opening (electronic) does not support opening an investigation at all ... we concluded that the long duration of the investigation unreasonable and not in accordance with the FBI policy.
The report has been drawn up, and the names of the persons with pseudonyms have been replaced, but it is an eye-opening look at how a federal agency has its own rules of procedure in his eagerness to animal activists as terrorists may serve to infringe.
