January is month Relieved of a dog '

January is "Dog month liberated" and PETA is to encourage people to give their best friends, where they are safest and happiest. Cold weather means additional difficulties for dogs "backyard". Dogs suffer from freezing, dehydration and exposure to the freezing of the water resources. Chain or written dogs often have nowhere to go to escape from the cold and the snow.

All dogs need nutritious food, drinking water and solid roof over their heads. But what they really craves attention and companionship of their human families, their pack.Scratch behind the ears, games fetch and walks around the block that the world to them. Curling up next to you is their idea of heaven.

If you know that someone with a dog outside, offer to play with the dog and take him or her for walks.Treats and toys, they mean so much a dog that little else to do. ensure that he or she has sufficient food, water and shelter — that are required by law — and neglect reporting to the authorities. the call could mean that the difference between life and death of an animal outside in the cold.

Click here for more ways to help the backyard dogs.

Allowing of animals within, in particular, puppies and kittens, older animals, small animals and dogs with short hair, such as pointers beagles, Rottweilers, pit bulls and Dobermans. When are they going to short-haired paint-animals outside, will benefit from a cosy sweater or coat. Provide dogs that time off with good shelter. In the ideal case, doghouses should be made of wood (plastic and metal also do not isolate cold) and should be placed on a sunny location in cold weather. The House of the ground by a few centimetres increase and put a flap on the door to hold off cold concepts.Wet and freeze. Make sure the dog tethering solved and of trees and objects that would prevent the animal in a doghouse. do not so your cat or dog roam freely outside gets use straw for bedding, rugs and blankets.During the winter sometimes cats climbing under the hoods of cars in the vicinity of hot engines and seriously injured or killed when the car is started.(To prevent this from happening, bang loudly on the hood of your car before you start the engine.)Animals are also attracted to deadly antifreeze and disoriented when there is snow or ice on the ground. more animals are lost in the winter than in any other season. Increase animals food rations during the winter (they burn more calories to maintain warm). Also, make sure that animals of internal parasites, feeding them important nutrients rob.

Help Olivia Munn Free Captive Elephants

From hosting G4's Attack of the Show! to appearing in summer blockbusters Date Night and Iron Man 2, Olivia Munn is entertaining audiences all over the globe. Olivia also has a soft spot for animals and was shocked to learn that elephants used in circuses are torn from their mothers at birth and bound and electro-shocked as babies in order to break their spirits. They spend the rest of their lives performing silly, meaningless tricks out of constant fear of physical punishment, including beatings with bullhooks—sharp, metal-tipped implements that resemble fireplace pokers.

Since elephants are not naturally inclined to balance on balls, stand on their heads, or perform tricks, trainers use whips, tight collars, muzzles, electric prods, bullhooks, and other painful tools to force them to perform these physically uncomfortable tasks. Elephants used by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus are beaten, hit, poked, prodded, and jabbed with sharp hooks, sometimes until bloody. When they are not performing, elephants—who walk up to 30 miles a day in their natural environment—spend their time in chains as the circus travels from city to city.

Olivia explains, "When you look at something like the circus and everyone's laughing and there's color and there's music and everything seems so great, but when you go right behind that door and they're in these crates all day long and then they're getting shocked and beat just so they can get up and dance around on a ball … it was just so sickening." Please join Olivia in helping to stop cruelty under the big top and spread the word about this important issue to everyone you know!

Kate Winslet Exposes Foie Gras Cruelty

Oscar-winner Kate Winslet is following in the footsteps of other great actors, including Sir Roger Moore, in urging consumers and retailers to drop foie gras. She narrates this PETA exclusive video revealing undercover investigation footage of the cruelty that is endured by ducks and geese who are abused for this delicacy of despair.

Foie gras, which literally translates to "fatty liver," is made from the engorged livers of ducks and geese. Kate describes, "To produce foie gras, ducks and geese are force-fed enormous amounts of grain and fat, which causes their livers to swell to many times the normal size."

When these feeding pipes are jammed into the birds, their throats are often punctured and the birds can suffer from severe tissue damage and internal bleeding.

Help Kate spread the word that foie gras is a recipe for torture and share her video with everyone you know!

WNBA Star Candace Parker Fights Fur

WNBA star and Los Angeles Sparks forward Candace Parker scores a slam dunk for animals by posing with her rescued four-legged friend, Fendi, in an ad for PETA to tell fans, "If You Wouldn't Wear Your Dog, Please Don't Wear Any Fur." The only difference between our best friends and animals used for their fur is how we treat them.

Candace is the second woman in WNBA history to dunk during a regulation game, but this MVP, Rookie of the Year, and Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Award winner scores the winning point on our scoreboard for speaking out against the fur industry. Candace wanted to be a part of PETA's anti-fur campaign because, she says, "I really feel like it's very cruel what they do to animals, and I love my dog and couldn't imagine anybody harming her."

Animals killed for their fur endure tremendous pain and suffering. Foxes, minks, and rabbits—and even dogs and cats—are bludgeoned, stomped, electrocuted, and often skinned alive. PETA undercover investigations reveal that animals struggle and scream in pain as workers rip the skin off their writhing bodies.

All animals feel pain and suffering. Please join Candace in refusing to contribute to animal suffering by never buying or wearing fur or fur trim.

Whole food prices how happy is their flesh

Whole Foods

As part of their mission to annoy vegetarians and vegans everywhere, plans, Whole Foods to their flesh with a rating of animal welfare and also fish rate according to sustainability. Concerning meat, Whole Foods co-founder John Mackey declared, "signs will tell customers exactly how meat animals are bred ... We are the roll-out of initiatives to help buyers to make healthier (and staff), more informed choices about food. " Aquatic animals are colored ratings that correspond to the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program with green (s) found for "best", yellow for "good" and red for "prevention". And because they care, Whole Foods said she "will end sales types of Red-appreciated by the Earth Day 2013." No, that's it's not a typo. 2013.

Few things in life are black or white, including my feelings about Whole Foods.

Things I love about Whole Foods: Hot pizza made with Daiya vegan cheese, hot food buffet with vegan & Samosas, vegan cruelty-free products, lots and lots of organic production of choices.

Things I hate: the promotion of their human flesh standards, high prices, and now their bacchanalian happy meat and sustainable seafood feast.

In the event that it is not clear: "Humane meat" is an oxymoron, because an animal to produce that meat was killed. The demonstrably human flesh freegan sources, or from animals that a natural or accidental death died. I would not eat roadkill, but if someone else wants, I have no ethical concerns.Just a great, "Ewwww ..."

But the Whole Foods is at least try, right? the problem is that they confuse the public. With their rating system, they are trying to appease the shopper's paradise guilt about the meat and fish to buy, so that the customer will think, "it's not so bad that I eat meat, because I the free-roaming grass fed happy meat buy."Never mind that the animals still suffering and still for the purpose of emergency slaughter. And never think that free-roaming animals need as many, if not more, resources vis-à-vis their counterparts of the factory farm.

Whole food No foods containing trans-fats to sell, but they will sell of fish from the most environmentally-unfriendly fishing 3 more years, and all kinds of other products of animal origin likely to sell.

But don't worry, Mr Vega and vegetarians! whole foods is also working on a private label line vegan foods. To when we get to Whole Foods shopping distract us from the lucky meat.

FBI Improperly Targeted PETA Activists

A report just now by the United States Department of Justice Office of the Inspector General concluded that the FBI investigation into people for the ethical treatment of animals and some of its employees is incorrect. The OIG reviews DOJ staff and programs "to detect and prevent waste, fraud, abuse and misconduct, and to promote integrity, economy, efficiency and effectiveness." The report, entitled "a review of the FBI investigation of certain domestic advocacy groups," even criticism of the FBI investigation of Greenpeace USA and anti-organisations.

Over a period of six years looked into the FBI or PETA and some of their employer in the case of domestic terrorism. Despite three extensions of the study of PETA and PETA's penchant for throwing cream Vegan cakes people, the FBI concluded that "there is not enough proof of PETA's engagement in each federal criminal offenses to justify so convert it into a full enterprise terrorism investigation."While the OIG found that the FBI has decided to open the investigation against the PETA good, questioning the third extension of the research and, above all, objected to the FBI overzealous investigation of individual PETA employees, in some cases, them on Federal watch lists and check their trip for years. PETA nor any of the individuals were found in terrorism.

In their report said the OIG:

We concluded that the FBI not the Attorney General's guidelines violate as most of these studies. However, we asked whether the FBI had a sufficient facts to examine several cases as full instead of questions referred for a preliminary ruling. we closed with respect to an individual that the facts of the opening (electronic) does not support opening an investigation at all ... we concluded that the long duration of the investigation unreasonable and not in accordance with the FBI policy.

The report has been drawn up, and the names of the persons with pseudonyms have been replaced, but it is an eye-opening look at how a federal agency has its own rules of procedure in his eagerness to animal activists as terrorists may serve to infringe.

The number of animals?

Cow Eye

To think about the number of animals killed for human use is staggering. When the suffering of individual animals killed for fur, vivisection can food, or trophies seem overwhelming, and that it's hard to imagine that their suffering is multiplied by the millions or billions of individuals who share their same fate.

And these numbers are not reserved for animals kept in zoos, aquariums or circus animals suffering. these numbers do not include the wild animals killed by Habitat loss, climate change and pollution.

Vegan Candy Corn?

Dots Candy Corn

I have never found vegan candy corn in a shop. Candy corn always contains gelatin, resusnegatieve, beeswax and/or honey. If you're new to veganism are, gelatine derived from animal bones and resusnegatieve comes from eggs. I have a few of the recipes for vegan candy corn found on the Internet, but they seem very time consuming. I was so excited to the points of the gumdrops in a candy corn taste, which I declare vegan after calling the company of the prostitute and verify that the "natural flavors" in the given vegan ingredients. They tell me that all the points of the flavors are vegan.

So, do they really taste like candy corn?

Yes and no.

On the positive side: to open the window, and the aroma of mellowcream, marshmallowy smells like candy corn. In the first place in your mouth, and the taste is like candy corn.

On the negative side: it is not enough-sweet to taste-not nearly as traditional candy corn. The biggest negative is that the texture completely wrong.Bite, and it has the soft texture of a gummy. on-call time and it has a chemical-ish aftertaste that I do not associate with candy corn, but artificially flavored gumdrops.

It's funny. I don't mind that taste in the mouth when it comes with dots fruit-flavored gumdrops. but if something had to taste like candy corn, that aftertaste is a disappointment.

I would recommend them? if you have something that tastes like candy corn to traditional, these gumdrops. If you are, it's a change from the usual fruit flavors and you would like it.

PETA closures state Wildlife Resources Agency advise citizens to the killing of animals in cruel, illegal methods

Governor Bredesen asked to ensure that State employees are well trained on the processing of talks on wild animals

Nashville, Tennessee--today, PETA sent an urgent letter to Tennessee Governor Phil Bredesen call on him to intervene on behalf of the voters and the "parasites" they have to live-captured animals. PETA has received complaints from citizens who Tennessee Wildlife resources Agency (TWRA) looking for information about human life-trapped animals and cruel opinion that if followed, would callers in violation of the law of the State. According to the complainants, the TWRA workers have suggested that inquirers to drown the animals, the animals using a vehicle exhaust gas or just the animals leave until they die, all of which are actions that anti-cruelty state laws violated. PETA calls on the Governor and TWRA employees proper instruction on how humane voters want to receive calls.

"Kill animals cruelly — including drowning, asphyxiation or famine — is a crime," says PETA vice president Daphna Nachminovitch. "Citizens have a right to expect State officials are not going to give them advice that could land them in prison. "

PETA'S letter to Governor Phil Bredesen.

October 5, 2010

The Honorable Phil Bredesen
Governor of Tennessee

Best Governor Bredesen:

Your urgent attention should be paid with respect. PETA headquarters has received numerous complaints of Tennessee residents who have advised by employees of Tennessee Wildlife resources Agency (TWRA) cruel killing of animals that live-captured. residents who TWRA looking for advice on how to get rid of trapped raccoons and skunks are being instructed to kill the animals from drowning, gasification through exhaust and exit (exit of animals within the traps without food).

Drowning, gasification of animals trapped animals with carbon monoxide, or making them until they languish in fall of starvation, exposure, and/or dehydration would lead to unnecessary pain and suffering, and is therefore expected to be in conflict with anti-cruelty Statute of Tennessee. in addition, the release of trapped animals within 36 hours after the recording would not blatantly violate trap check requirements of the State.

In a note, that we TWRA Director Ed Carter on 6 June (see appendix), we asked for an investigation into these allegations. Mr Carter assured us that the issue would be examined. However, follow-up calls TWRA offices confirm that inhumane killing methods continue to be recommended and glossed over by TWRA staff. a written response that we get to the Mr Carter on 10 September (attached) was ignored. we fear that our concerns fell on deaf ears may have gone down.

With all due respect, we ask that your Office ensure that TWRA will immediately to take corrective measures and good information and training of staff with regard to acceptable wildlife euthanasia methods (that is, which methods it considers acceptable by the American Veterinary Medical Association in).

I should like, on behalf of our 2 million members and supporters around the world, including thousands of in Tennessee, thank you for your time and attention.

Respectfully yours,

Jodi Minion, wildlife biologist

Chimpanzee getting American laboratories

Chimpanzee in Cage

There are currently more than 1000 chimpanzees invasive experiments in U.S. laboratories, but this may change. The great ape Protection Act, s. 159, was introduced in the u.s. Senate last month phase of the great apes, invasive research. According to the Jane Goodall Institute:

[T] he bill would require the permanent retirement of State-owned chimpanzees permanent sanctuaries currently held in research laboratories. The current level of technical competence in publicly funded permanent moratorium on breeding of chimpanzees straighten and prohibit federal funding of invasive research within and outside the United States of America. Although as a general rule, it is assumed that chimpanzees are the only great apes still used in research, the legislation will apply to all the monkeys--chimpanzees, bonobos, gorillas, orangutans, and gibbons.

In the Bill is the definition of "invasive research" "no research that lead to death or personal injury, pain, distress, fear, injury or trauma to a big monkey to can."Although other types of research still to be allowed, such as "close observation of natural or voluntary behavior of a large monkey," this Bill would mean that the retirement of more than 1000 chimpanzees to sanctuaries.

Not only do chimpanzees suffer in silence in laboratories, but according to the Commission responsible medicine doctors this injustice is funded with $ 20-$ 25 million in the American taxpayer dollars each year.

In the European Union, a new law prohibits the use of monkeys for testing of products, but in practice, they are not used in the EU for eight years. The law was originally for a ban on the use of all primates for any kind of vivisection, but the law was declined after researchers lobbied for the use of great apes and other primates for biomedical research. If the great ape Protection Act has expired, you may receive one of the great apes, stronger protection than the EU legislation, but not as strong as the Spanish law ban on the use of the monkeys of vivisection, circuses, television commercials or filming.

Some might question why animal protection groups to support a bill that will save monkeys, but is silent on the rats, mice and Guinea pigs, rabbits, other primates with other animals in laboratories. in support of this Bill does not mean that the vivisection is acceptable when it comes to other animals. The Bill is a way to save the animals we today, while we are on the long-term objective of work at the end of all vivisection. If we of a thousand of vivisection can save chimpanzees, we need to do to the chimpanzees.

The sponsor of the Senate Bill is senator Maria Cantwell (WA), and while the House version of the Bill, H.R. 1326, 150 cosponsors, the Senate version has only two co-sponsors: Senator Susan Collins (me), and senator Bernard Sanders (VT). in the case of the passage of this Bill, urge your Senators to support s. 159 of the Act, the protection of the great apes.

Formerly known as animal Damage Control, Wildlife Services is notorious for the killing of mountain lions, wolves, bears, and coyotes in their mission "Federal leadership in the management of problems that are caused by the nature." The lesser-known victims are skunks, wild pigs, mourning doves, Blackbirds, Starlings, and pigeons. In 2009, the Agency more than 4 million animals are slaughtered.

While the gray wolves in the Northern Rockies are protected under the Endangered Species Act, the population in the central Idaho listed as "experimental, non-essential."This means that the grey wolves in central Idaho can be killed by the services of the nature and can be killed by the farmers if they are seen animals. Yes, it's still over the cattle.

It is also about hunting.Another reason Idaho Fish and game would like to kill wolves is because they claim the wolves are at risk of the Moose population. they want to kill 40-50 wolves in their Lolo zone, but they 1.490 moose hunting permits for that sell the same zone this year.It does not seem as if the wolves responsible for a decline in the population of each.

Both groups have webforms that non-lethal solution to the conflicts of the flora and fauna.Defenders of Wildlife asks USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack to non-lethal solutions for wolves in central Idaho.

The humane society of the u.s. asks webform Vilsack to terminate the use of two "predator poisons," which not only cruel coyotes, foxes, and mountain lions, as well as other animals such as dogs, bald eagles and California condors to kill.

Take action:

Speak out against killing wolves in central Idaho with this application form of defenders of Wildlife. Speak out against predator poisons with this application form of HSUS.

Toronto--today, PETA fired off a letter to Larry William Beechey, Deputy Commissioner of the Ontario provincial police, asked him to examine by the Ontario truck driver who crashed a pig transport carriage outside of Toronto early Monday and, if justified, cruelty to animals to file charges against him.The driver, which was not mentioned, was reportedly speed up and lost control of the truck, which kept domestic swine over 200. the truck rolled and scores of animals were injured and killed the driver has been charged with careless driving. PETA in the letter points out that in addition to the driver's no reasonable care for the animals of the porcine species was he caused them to horrible suffering and that, therefore, according to PETA, he should be the face of cruelty to animals shall also be considered to be.

PETA'S letter to Larry William Beechey of the Deputy Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police.

6 October 2010

Larry William Beechey, Deputy Commissioner
Ontario Provincial Police

Dear Deputy Commissioner William Beechey:

I write about the 4 October crash outside of Toronto of a tractor trailer transport 235 pig slaughter on quality meat Packers Ltd. about 74 pigs were allegedly killed on impact of died in the hours that followed as a result of the terrible injuries and trauma related; another seven apparently were killed by the police and workers at the scene. on behalf of our more than 2 million members and supporters worldwide PETA — including tens of thousands of people in Canada, we ask that the Ontario Provincial Police continue to investigate this incident and, if knowledge justifies, prosecuting the driver of the truck (a non-identified 26-year-old from Norwich, Ontario) cruelty to animals in accordance with the Criminal Code of Canada ("code").

Section 445.1 (1) (a) of the code provides that an offence if he or she intentionally caused ' unnecessary pain, suffering or injury to an animal, "while article 446.(1)(a), to criminalise the behavior that is one "by means of a deliberate neglect damage or cause injury to animals animals ... While they are being driven."Both sections allow the lack of "exercise reasonable care of an animal ..." as a result, caused him or her pain, suffering, damage or injury is evidence that these effects of neglect, about that there is no doubt that these pigs were caused intentionally,. We believe that this driver clear speeding and careless driving — for which he was reportedly charged — are not to exercise reasonable care that the code refers to and means so that their suffering has been caused intentionally.

I witnessed the aftermath of such accidents and have seen the mangled remains of animals who have been killed by the impact. I have weakened, terrified and distressed survivors be dragged by the ears, electro-shocked and forced upon replacement trucks bound for the slaughterhouse, and I saw the worst off killed with a device that is in a bolt in their brains stations — a device that sometimes failures. only one should not have seen a crash scene personally to understand the speed with which the pig industry must act to prevent these chaotic, deadly wrecks. drivers, and, if justified, their employers should be held responsible for the pigs reckless in their cargo suffer from this avoidable, appalling injuries and premature deaths caused. thank you for your time and consideration and I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards,

So it was a little surprising as news that the fomer leaked would "Posh Spice" use crocodile and lizard skins in her new line of accessories. After all, the exotic-skins trade just as cruel as the fur business. Our buttons on PETA UK Victoria a letter asking her to our video on the exotic-skins-industry. Narrated by Joaquin Phoenix, video details how lizards killed for their skin often nailed to trees and skinned life and how farmed alligators are usually struck with hammers and slaughtered. We hope that Victoria following the example of her husband, David, pleather dressed as soon as they the cruelty inherent in the exotic-skins-industry will see, that famous kangaroo skin football boots fell after learning about the cruelty of the Kangaroo-learn to trade.

95% of Poachers Uncaught

Game guards in California estimate that she only 5% of the poachers. The rest get away with it. Since California game wardens wrote 3,371 violations of last year, it seems the number of unprosecuted poaching incidents in the tens of thousands. Some sell meat and other poachers parts of the animals on the black market, some hunting to eat, and some just can't be bothered to pay for a hunting license.
The penalties for the poaching are minimal.Offenders are typically a slap on the wrist in the form of a fine and/or jail time trial period; is rare. in August, Ted Nugent was fined $ 1750 illegal baiting deer and a deer tag not countersigned.
Poaching is worse than the right yacht? Yes and no.From a perspective of the rights of animals care about the animals that were killed at a is not whether they are in the season or off season was killed. from an environmental point of poaching is worse than legal hunting because hunting laws and regulations of the animals in the wild are designed to protect the population as a whole, so that the poaching can threaten the survival of an entire population. When the actual number of violations in the tens of thousands of poaching, can have a significant effect on a type.
A form of illegal hunting is "shoot, shovel and shut up."Never heard of? here more information.

Blog Post: Steve-O is a Dreamboat for animals

LOS ANGELES - SEP 25: Steve-O arrives at the PETA 30th Anniversary Gala at Hollywood Palladium on September 25, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA Photo via Newscom

There are many reasons to worship Steve-o. Here are just a few that I arrived at the top of my head:

1) are vegan appearance. He told that his peoplepets.com vegan diet "me my self confidence-building helps.I feel good about every time I eat a meal. "He notes that it has had a positive impact on every aspect of his life.

2) he calmer, more loving and tolerant — and he credits are cute adopted pooch, Walter, with helping him to make the transformation.

3) is the strong, silent type in his "I am not a nugget" peta2 t-shirt — but he still delivered against the abuse of its Ringling young, old and sick elephants.

Having regard to the fact that his comp-formation (that is the abbreviation for "compassionate transformation") not so long ago, I began to have the feeling that we are more reasons why we will add (heart) Steve-O very soon. And if you don't have your own comp-formation have been started, you can follow Steve-O.
