Blog Post: Our kind of town, Richmond Is

Richmond, British Columbia, a suburb of Vancouver, has become the first city in Canada to a ban on the sale of puppies in pet stores. The Richmond City Council will now be writing the articles detailing the specifics of the ban. The articles of Association, then a number of public consultations. If everything goes as planned, will Richmond pet stores puppy-free april 2011.

Richmond ban comes on the heels of the forbidden in South Lake Tahoe and West Hollywood on the sale of dogs and cats in pet stores.

The laws are meant to shelter adoption, reducing the number of impulsive purchased puppies which, in the end, is transferred to animal shelters and hard on puppy mills, which is the leading supplier of puppies to pet stores.

These rumblings that you hear is the sound of thousands of shelter dogs tails pounding the floor in a canine version of the Gulf.
